On June 15th, the federal government announced its plans to fund Canada’s first-ever 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurship program. Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) will lead this initiative. The program will work towards a more inclusive economy and break down barriers for 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs.
The program will include three components.
1. A Business Scale-Up Program
This component will ingress tools, resources, and skills necessary for 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses successfully.
Offering Mentorship Programs, corporate procurement opportunities & strengthening global outreach.
2. An Ecosystem Fund
For this section, the CGLCC will work towards strengthening services & support to 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs, targeting lacking regions.
3. Knowledge Fund
The knowledge fund will implement research projects focusing on the quality & quantity of data conducted on entrepreneurship & business ownership within the 2SLGBTQI+ community. They plan to partner with academic institutions & other suitable organizations to improve this area of research.
This program is available for entrepreneurs that identify as 2SLGBTQI+.
