A Summer Internship Like No Other: Loren’s Experience with CBDC Blue Water
Though they were not familiar with CBDC before the internship, Loren quickly grew to appreciate all the work the staff at CBDC Blue Water do for the community. “I got to see how CBDC is actually affecting the community by supporting small businesses,” Loren explains.
They spent the summer traveling Nova Scotia to the business locations of CBDC clients. “I got to see the clients where they were. I got to see their businesses and how their businesses have grown since the [CBDC] loan.” Ranging the series of videos Loren made out of interviewing the clients are sweeping shots of the beautiful and unique locations each business operates from, including the scenic ocean view at Norse Cove Camping, the colourful dog yards at BarX’s Canine Retreat, and the cozy, relaxing rooms at Venture Counselling & Therapy.
“I got to discover all these businesses, these hidden gems, in Nova Scotia,” Loren says, “and being able to interview these business owners, and find out what goes on behind the scenes at these businesses, was so cool.”
When they were not out interviewing clients, Loren was editing videos at the CBDC Blue Water office in Porter’s Lake. They reveal that their experience working amongst the staff at CBDC was very welcoming. “Everyone at CBDC is super friendly, thoughtful, and intelligent,” Loren says.
“I’m not a business owner, but I would definitely recommend CBDC for anyone looking for support for their business, whether you’re a new or experienced entrepreneur,” Loren states. To summarize their experience with CBDC Blue Water, Loren says with a smile, “CBDC is about community.”
