Norse Cove Camping

An Oceanside View to Soothe the Soul: Norse Cove Camping Provides a Quality Camping Experience.

Werner and Kimberly sought to provide a new camping experience while being located just outside of Halifax. Their original idea was to develop a motorcycle and bicycle-friendly campground, but the budding entrepreneurs quickly realized the roads around their campground were not suited for bicyclists.

“We morphed into something different,” Werner recalls. Norse Cove Camping now centers around tent-friendly campsites. “Most Canadian campgrounds and provincial parks are trailer-friendly,” Werner muses, “we cater to a different demographic.”

Norse Cove Camping is located on an incredibly picturesque spot in Tangier on the Eastern Shore. Campers can choose between tent-friendly sites or mini cottages, all with a stunning view of the North Atlantic Ocean. Alongside its gorgeous sites and modern amenities, the campground offers kayak tours to the Eastern Shore Wild Islands, as well as kayak rentals and training.

Werner and Kimberly obtained a business loan through CBDC to help with initial operational costs and cash flow. “We believed in ourselves, but other financial institutions didn’t,” Werner remembers. “CBDC were interested in us succeeding. They believed in us.”

Now, Werner and Kimberly see regular campers and new campers alike residing on their campground every week. The pair make lasting relationships with their campers; Werner fondly remembers teaching a new camper how to make a fire to impress his girlfriend.

In the future, Werner and Kimberly aim to continue providing their campers with a quality camping experience. Werner explains that this includes upgrading their facilities and buildings. “Like I mentioned, we cater to a different demographic,” he says. “Because of that, we differ from typical Canadian campgrounds. For us to keep doing that, we have to change things, we have to build new things, we have to improve things.”
