Venture Counselling & Therapy

Venture Counselling & Therapy

Rose Degenhardt was a solo therapist for many years before deciding to expand her business to include an office space and bringing in other therapists. Noticing that most other therapy clinics included the practitioner’s name, Rose decided on the name ‘Venture’ for her clinic to include not just herself but every therapist present, and to signify the act of venturing into the scary and wonderful process of healing with her clients.

“We meet those in our community where they’re at,” Rose explains, “our slogan is ‘one can overcome adversity’ because we truly believe in meeting somebody in the midst of any kind of trouble, that we can help guide them to a healthier lifestyle.” Venture offers many specialized services to the community, with highly qualified staff on board and a welcoming and cozy clinic space.

Rose was able to obtain her office space through a CBDC loan. “Even though you have all these degrees on the wall, you’re like, ‘I don’t know where to start, I don’t know how to do this,’” Rose muses. “So I called the CBDC, and immediately, there was somebody coaching me on what I needed to do, and I felt supported for the first time moving into business as an entrepreneur.”

The loan helped Rose not only secure her office space, but also furnish the clinic. “Everything that we envisioned to make this space such a calming and relaxed vibe, the CBDC loan gave to us.” Rose says. When speaking to her interactions with CBDC staff, Rose states how comfortable she felt communicating with them. “They were amazing,” she says, “emailing me straight away, right back.”

What’s in store for Venture Counselling & Therapy? Rose hopes to expand to help more clients through Nova Scotia and beyond, perhaps even opening more Venture clinics with more therapists. “One doesn’t have to be a statistic because you came from a challenging childhood or challenging background,” Rose says earnestly. “I 100% believe anybody can overcome the struggles that they’re going through with some guidance and some good tools.”
